2015 BMW M235i Convertible
BMW is renaming the coupe and convertible versions of the 1-series as the 2-series for the vehicle’s second generation. The hatchback retains the 1-series designation.
The M235i coupe, not yet confirmed officially, is set for a debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show. It is the sister model to the M135i hatchback that will go on sale across Europe in September.
The new sports coupe will be based on the next generation 2-Series and will most likely be badged the M253i (known as the M135i Coupe until recently). A coupe version will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, while a convertible version will arrive later in 2014.
The future M235i will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 316 HP. The engine was recently announced in the M135i, but according to Autoweek, this engine has been certified for U.S. sales.
The M235i Convertible will be offered with a fabric roof and will have enough interior room for four people. The exterior will be distinguished by the usual BMW M Performance package which includes a front apron with large air intake vents and three-dimensional flaps, an impressive rear apron with dual exhaust pipes, and 18″ M light alloy double-spoke wheels.
